I Want to Break Free!!

Today I have fallen prisoner to the library. An assignment due Monday has forced me to stay caged in, working away, constantly tempted by the not-so-bad weather outside. Pluses however, I'm two thirds through the work and I have a beautiful view from the 6th floor. Pressure is on, the library closes at 5.30!! Wish me luck!!

Politically Incorrect

After a long ten hour bus trip back to the windy city, I went out to my friend's flat warming. The theme was the controversial "No Bain, No Gain."  I had to borrow this cardy because I was shocked to realise I personally do not own a David Bain jersey. Feeling like I had to make up for this loss, I nabbed my Mum's very real nineties glasses and added a pink shade of lipstick that screamed at me Suzy Cato. ( You can't lie, those were good times.) Sneakers were understandably obligatory and while en route to the party I observed they were much more efficent at managing the hilly streets of Welly than the heels I usually put on for such an event. Unfortunatly no pictures from the party will be shared with you here because as soon as I arrived I found I had left my memory card at home!! To say the least I was guttered, but the night still proved itself a success as I danced nostalgically to the songs of my nineties youth so comfortably and freely in my sneakers....ha.

Feeling Fresh

I wore this outfit to the beach today. I bought these white 3/4 jeans a few weeks ago and I was a little nervous about the colour. The $15 sale tag was defs the tipping point. My rule is that I can divide the price of an item by the number of times I wear it. Usually the more I wear something, the more confident I feel about it too. This has been so true for these pants and I've worn them four times so far which brings them down to $3.75! Yuss!

Dedicated to summer

It felt like the weather was just as keen to make up for January today as we were. Mum had the day off today so we went exploring/ sunbathing. The road took us to Matarangi and we strolled on the beach before lunching at Luke's Kitchen in Kuaotunu (which was delish by the way, so filling!). The sun was warm in Otama bay where we lay in the sun for over an hour...almost feels like summer is hanging on! Fingers crossed!

My fav (and only) maxi dress

I mentioned in the previous post that being in Whiti always feels like being on holiday. It dawned on me today that part of the reason might be the lack of broadband. Using a dodgy t-stick is providing a challenge while I attempt to make new posts, but a challenge I have accepted nonetheless.
I've been supposedly studying which has turned into more like succesful procrastinating today. I chose this comfy maxi dress and jersey cause I knew I'd be lounging around. I love this combo..What do you think?

dress: Wrangler
jersey: Otto mode
shoes: Converse

Wish you could hear the waves crash

So on Saturday I endured the nine hour bus ride to Tauranga, followed by a two and a half hour drive up to Whitianga. The journey was worth it. I'm only here till Thursday night but it's good to take a break from Welly. Seeing my parents again is so nice and I always feel like I'm on holiday when ever I'm up here. So nice to be at the beach again! Since you can't be here I'll share with you the view....

These hills remind me of something out of Dr.Seus

Somebody left a teepee on the beach..Love it!

Time goes Fast when you're having Fun

Over the Easter weekend I was lucky enough to have one of my best friends, Lindsay, come and stay with me. Against all predictions (and Lindsay's expectations) the weather was beautiful and we filled in our time doing all sorts of touristy things. The weekend was over before we knew it and the weather packed in not long after and now I can't wait till next time she comes to stay!

Linz on the Ferry over to Days Bay

 Me on the Ferry

Our delicious pizzas (Magarita is my all time favourite)

We passed this busker first when we were heading for the ferry and on our return he was still there! He was so cute I couldn't resist a photo..he even had a basket of lollies for kids!

On Saturday night we went to Library Bar for a drink and sampled some quality literature......

...And the girls photo bombed my camera while I went to the bathroom.

Kirsty and I drinking sangria from mason jars at El Horno..yum

Linz at the top of the cable car, looking out over the city.

Last but not least we stopped to smell the roses in the botanical gardens.

Until next time,
Yours, Amanda xx

There's a first for Everything

Well, here goes it, the first post. With a wave of sudden motivation, I've finally done it!  May this be the first of many (fingers crossed).
